Is this the Pet Safe Coalition from Long Island?
No. That group's program moved to the Nassau County SPCA around 2015, and the IRS revoked its tax-exempt status in 2018. Purrify, a company, runs this site. What happened to the group.
Can I donate here?
No. This site takes no money. The donate page lists organizations whose donation pages we checked. You give on their own site, and they send the receipt.
Can you shelter my pet in an emergency?
No. We run no shelter. Find local help lists organizations in every province, territory and state that may be able to. In danger right now? Call your local emergency number.
Is this site a charity?
No. Purrify is a company and pays for the site. Nothing you do here is a charitable gift.
Can you put me in touch with the old Pet Safe Coalition?
No. We have no contact details for it and no connection to it.
What the former organization said in 2012
The old FAQ page at this address gave three short answers. They describe that group back then, not this site, so please don't rely on them today.
- It was independent, and not affiliated with or funded by any other charity, organization or government agency.
- Its pet sheltering was for Nassau County residents, who had to show proof of ID when they registered.
- Everyone who worked with it was an unpaid volunteer.
