Where guidance comes from

We use published animal-care guidance from veterinary institutions and animal-welfare organizations. For emergency planning and public services, we use the responsible agencies' own guidance. Sources are linked so you can read the full advice and check details that affect your situation.

Our guides summarize those sources. We do not claim that a veterinarian has reviewed our writing. A source written by a vet does not make this site your vet.

When you need professional help

Use the guides to prepare and find a next step. Ask your own vet about your pet's symptoms, treatment or care needs. If an animal needs urgent help, use Who to call to find the appropriate service. This site does not provide emergency care.

Dates and corrections

Dates on current guides show when we wrote or reviewed that guidance. We change those dates when we do the work, rather than updating them automatically. A date is not a promise that every linked service or rule is unchanged.

If you spot an error or a broken link, contact us with the page address and the detail that needs correcting. A link to the relevant official source helps us check it.

Historical material

This site is not the former Pet Safe Coalition organization. Historical pages explain their relationship to the old website and link to archived sources where available. An old event date or contact detail should not be read as a current service announcement.
