Help with vet bills
Written from the sources below on 4 October 2026.
A California volunteer for the former group posted a long list of vet-bill help in 2013. Many of those links now lead to dead pages, parked pages or unrelated sites, so this is a shorter list. Each organization below was opened on 4 October 2026 and says on its own site that it helps with pet medical costs.
We do not run these programs, cannot say whether you qualify, and do not collect applications. Rules, limits and funding change. Read each site first.
- Brown Dog Foundation describes itself as bridging the gap between the cost of medical care and saving the family pet.
- Help-A-Pet says it gives financial help nationwide for medical care of pets whose owners cannot afford it, and pays the vet directly.
- The Mosby Foundation says it helps qualified limited-income pet owners with unforeseen veterinary costs.
- The Pet Fund says it gives financial help for veterinary care to owners of domestic animals in the United States.
- RedRover Relief gives urgent care grants for animals in life-threatening situations.
- Shakespeare Animal Fund helps with emergency vet bills for people at or below poverty levels in 13 northern Nevada counties and North Central Florida only.
The old page also suggested asking your local humane society about low-cost vet services, and asking breed rescue groups about help. Use Find local help to find shelters near you.
