Volunteering with animals

How to volunteer with animals today: through a local shelter, or through RedRover's trained disaster responders. This site takes no applications.

Two volunteers organize clean blankets and bowls while a dog rests nearby.
Clean bedding and everyday supplies are part of caring for shelter animals.

The old page at this address was a volunteer application form for the former Pet Safe Coalition, with a minimum age of 18 for disaster training. That group lost its tax exemption in 2018 (see its history), and this site takes no applications. There is no form here.

Local shelters and rescues

Most shelters and rescues need walkers, cleaners, drivers and foster homes. Find local help lists organizations by region. Visit their own sites to see what they ask for.

Disaster response

RedRover says more than 4,800 trained volunteers help it provide emergency shelter for animals displaced by disasters or rescued from cruelty cases. It also trains volunteers. Check its Responders page for how to join.

This site does not endorse any organization. Read each one's own terms before you sign up.
