Girl Scouts and pet preparedness, 2014
Posted on the former site on 16 February 2014.
In February 2014 the former group wrote that a group of Girl Scouts from Massapequa had chosen it for their Bronze Award project.
- Each Scout assembled an emergency go kit from things found at home and explained why each item mattered.
- The Scouts learned the basics of pet first aid from a pet first aid instructor and got certificates of completion.
- They learned how to set up dog and cat cages, and walked through a mock set-up of an emergency pet shelter with the shelter manager who had run the Sandy shelter.
- They marched in a service-day parade carrying the group's banner, and planned to share what they learned with other Scout troops.
The Scouts are not named here. The post gave a phone number for Scout projects that no longer reaches the group.
