On 11 December 2012 the former group said it had received an unsolicited gift of $10,000 from a humanitarian philanthropist known as the Supreme Master Ching Hai. The post said she has a special affection for animals.

It said the gift would let the group continue its work for "Sandy" pets and its wider mission of assisting pet owners in disasters.

In July 2013 the group credited the Supreme Master Ching Hai Association with the gift of its mobile command trailer. These are the group's own statements.
