Contest item: a Port Washington win (2009)

Dated 19 August 2009.

On 19 August 2009 a county legislator invited the winning family of the first "Pet Safe Families" contest to the county building in Mineola to receive a citation. The family's entry was judged the best plan and resources for keeping pets safe in an emergency.

The page said the contest was meant to raise awareness and get Nassau residents to prepare their pets, and that it started in June. A photo caption listed the group's officers, a dog-product company, the legislator and the family. The photo is not restored, and the family is not named here.
