Amy goes home from the shelter, 2013

Archive of the former Pet Safe Coalition's website. This site is not that group.

A cat settling into a home, illustrated. This is not Amy or her family.

Posted on the former site on 15 February 2013.

The former group posted this short story as the Nassau County Emergency Pet Shelter neared its closing date. Amy, a senior cat, left the shelter one day before Valentine's Day and went back to her family.

The family was still not back in its own home, which Hurricane Sandy had damaged badly. They took Amy to their temporary home instead. The post ended with the saying that home is where the heart is.

Planning ahead can make a day like this easier. See Pet disaster planning.
