Press clip: Pets, Pets, Pets (2007)
Dated 18 July 2007.
Joanne Anderson wrote "Pets, Pets, Pets" for the Massapequa Post, published 18 July 2007. She noted that hurricane season peaks around 10 September and that "Leave No Pet Behind" had become an animal caretakers' slogan after Katrina.
The column described the former group as Nassau County's educational cooperative of local groups and government, and said it had sent volunteers during the April 2007 nor'easter.
- Make an escape plan and pair up with friends and relatives who can take your pets.
- Use a sturdy crate for each animal. The carrier should be big enough for the pet to stand and turn around.
- Pack a kit in an airtight, waterproof container with several days of food, records, medicine, collars, bowls, litter, first aid and photos.
- Keep a collar with current ID and rabies tags on your pet. Microchips are a permanent form of ID, but the registration must be current.
